Meet southern AB and Manitoba’s next big thing!

Let’s just say he’s the strong and silent type; someone who works hard, doesn’t buckle under pressure and isn’t characterized as a chatterbox. Steve Leishman has been part of the Bridgewater Bank family for eight months now.

After eight and a half years in the mortgage origination business, Steve decided to expand his knowledge base to the alternative mortgage industry with us here at the bank. His previous experience providing credit and investment advice to clients, followed by his role as a mortgage specialist, gave him the right tools for a Business Development Manager (BDM).

Steve’s work in mortgage origination was a 24/7 job, requiring excellent customer service skills, which he brings to his current position as a BDM. Being available, prompt and knowledgeable is valuable to brokers and Steve knows it. “Brokers are looking for clear, concise and timely communication. It allows them to better build efficiency and their reputation,” he says. It goes without saying that Steve certainly understands the broker mindset.

Steve recently became a new father, which truly taught him the value of time. “It has certainly been eye opening,” he says. If there’s anything that teaches you the importance of time management, it’s a newborn! To Steve, finding a good work-life balance is very important. It was one of the main reasons he sought out the position with the bank, along with the opportunity to grow his knowledge in alternative lending. “Bridgewater Bank has an excellent culture that allows for professional growth that’s tough to find elsewhere,” he shares.
